Huddersfield Town Hall 1pm

15 October 2018

Gordon Stewart

It was a recording on the Huddersfield Willis organ by the former Borough Organist, Jonathan Bielby, which brought Lefébure-Wely’s Sorties back into the repertoire.  Although a sortie would normally be played at the end of a service, this one, which is almost fairground music, makes a lively start to a wide-ranging programme. Starting and ending in Paris, it journeys to Germany, Austria and England in between.  A real Town Hall programme.
